Pet of the Month

Hi! My name is Gai,
pronounced like Guy. I turned 3 just last month. Me and my mom and our cats just
moved here from Washington, D.C., in November. This place is heaven. I love the
sheep and the donkeys and especially the horses next door. I want to be one when
I grow up. I love running around the yard and smelling the new smells that we
didn’t have where we lived before. I like romping in the field next door. It’s
almost as much fun as making Mom chase me around the house.
I’m an apricot toy poodle.
You might have been so dazzled by my good looks and my
big black eyes that you didn’t notice my wheels. I got them when we moved here
too. We hadn’t been here two weeks when I got really sick and my back legs
stopped working. Dr. James and Janice came in late especially to treat me that
dark and cold December night. My condition was inoperable, but Dr. James
encouraged Mom not to give up on me. Dr. Scott and Janice and Anne and Margo and
Marcy and Karl and Travis gave me massive doses of TLC to bring me back to a
point where I could go home. Dr. Melinda suggested sticking pins in me, which
didn’t impress me too much but Mom seemed to understand that it was a good
thing, so we tried that. And it’s working! I’ve got some wag back in my tail and
my back muscles are twitching where before they didn’t. So I’m hopeful that one
day I’ll be able to run around in the yard again and make Mom chase me down the
drive into the street. My wheels – Gai’s GTO – help me get around, and I’m
getting pretty fast on them so watch out when you see me coming!
