Traveling with Pets

Traveling with pets can be great fun, if you are properly prepared.

Automobile Travel--Without question, a travel kennel is the safest way for your pet to travel by car. It not only keeps him/her out from under foot, but also increases his/her safety and sense of security. With your pet in a kennel, they can’t unexpectedly dash out of the car and get lost when you stop and they will be much safer in the event of an accident.

Airline Travel--If your pet is going to travel by air, it must be shipped in an airline approved shipping kennel. Call ahead and check with the airline about special requirements. Book a direct flight to minimize the chance of your pet ending up in the wrong location. In warm weather, book an early morning or late evening flight to avoid extreme heat. In cold weather, book a midday flight to avoid extreme cold.

Some things that you need for your pet when traveling either by automobile or by airline are:

  1. Health Certificate--this is a requirement for every state. It is a certificate that states your pet is in good health and free from diseases.
  2. Vaccination Certificate
  3. Leash and Tie-Out
  4. ID Tags and/or Microchip
  5. Food and Water
  6. Toys and Bedding
  7. Pooper Scooper
  8. Medications and a First Aid kit

If it is not possible for your pet to go with you when traveling, we have an excellent boarding facility. Let us pamper your pet while you are on the road and can not do it yourself.

Ask the Receptionist for more details.
