Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) is a naturally occurring dietary sulfur that is a derivative of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO). MSM is naturally present in animal tissues and plants including fruits, vegetables, and grains. However, it is easily lost when fresh food is processed and/or stored. Unlike DMSO, it does not have an unpleasant odor.Indications for Use: The most common use of MSM in pets is for joint and pain relief. In these situations it acts as an anti-inflammatory. Other studies claim that it can be used for tendon/ligament problems, parasite infections, to reduce allergic reactions, and for stomach or intestine upset. Use of this product for these later situations should be done with skepticism until additional research has been completed.
Dosage and Administration:
The following doses are for MSM products manufactured by Vitality Systems:
MSM crystals: Feed 1/2 level white scoop daily. Each white scoop contains
800 mg of MSM. The scoop is included.
MSM chewable tablets: Feed 1/4 tablet per 15 lbs. of body weight. Each
tablet contains 1,000 mg of MSM.
MSM tablets: Feed 1/2 tablet per 15 lbs. of body weight. Each tablet
contains 400 mg of MSM.
Packaging:
This supplement is available as an individual ingredient or in combination with other ingredients. It comes in a crystal form or as a tablet.Precautions and Side Effects: MSM is generally considered safe with few side effects. This product is for animal use only.
