KMR®
(Powder and Liquid)

Product Description: This is a milk replacement for kittens, or a nutritional supplement for older cats and nursing mothers.

Indications for Use: KMR is a food source for orphaned or rejected kittens, or for kittens that are nursing, but need additional supplements.

Dosage and Administration: For young (< 7 days old) or malnourished kittens, mix one measure of powdered KMR with two measures of warm water. For older kittens (7-10 days old with their eyes open), mix two measures of powdered KMR with three measures of warm water (measuring scoop provided). Warm reconstituted KMR to room or body temperature and feed 2 tablespoons per 4 oz. of body weight daily. Small or weak kittens should be fed every 3-4 hours, and larger or older kittens should be fed every 8 hours. The daily feeding amount should be divided into equal portions for each feeding. Increase or decrease the amount fed to meet the individual requirements for each kitten. Weigh each kitten daily, to be sure it is gaining weight and being fed enough.

Pregnant and lactating queens should be fed 2 teaspoons of KMR powder per 5 lbs. of body weight every day until 2 weeks after queening. Growing kittens, show cats, and older cats should receive 1 teaspoon KMR powder per 5 lbs. body weight daily.

When feeding liquid KMR, the volume to feed kittens is the same as the reconstituted powder.  Pregnant and lactating queens should be fed 2 tablespoons of KMR liquid per 5 lbs. of body weight every day until 2 weeks after queening. Growing kittens, show cats, and older cats should receive 1 tablespoon of KMR liquid per 5 lbs. body weight daily.

Packaging: Powdered KMR comes in 6, 12, and 28 oz. cans and a ¾ oz. pouch. Liquid KMR comes in 8 and 12.5 oz. cans.

Precautions and Side Effects: If possible, all kittens should receive the queen’s milk for at least two days. The queen’s natural colostrum provides extra nutrition and temporary immunity from certain diseases that are not provided in supplements. See page A900 for additional information on passive immunity and the importance of colostrum.

Storage and Shelf Life: Shake liquid KMR before use and discard after 72 hours. Do not freeze. Powdered KMR may be refrigerated for 3 months. If the powder has been reconstituted, it can be refrigerated for up to 24 hours.
