Product Description:
This is an oral bolus or powder for treatment of mild stomach disturbances. The different products may contain magnesium hydroxide or magnesium oxide.Indications for Use: Use in situations of mild acidosis, constipation, and ulcers.
Dosage and Administration: For fastest action in severe acidosis cases, the powder form is used at 0.45 grams of magnesium hydroxide per pound of body weight. This means that approximately 2.25 oz. of Magnalax powder (10.35 oz. of magnesium hydroxide per pound of powder) should be given for every 100 lbs. of weight. The appropriate amount of powder should be mixed with 1 pint to 1 quart of water and administered orally. The boluses are used for more minor cases and are administered at 2-4 boluses per animal, depending on size. These doses should not be repeated too frequently (once a day for three days maximum). Doses may vary depending on the product, so refer to package labels.
Packaging: This product comes in boxes of 50 boluses, or 1 lb. and 25 lb. containers of powder. Each ounce of powder generally contains 20 grams of magnesium hydroxide and each bolus about 27 grams of magnesium hydroxide.
Storage: Keep in a cool dry place. Do not store in temperatures above 86°F.
Milk Withholding: When using some of the Magnalax products, a withholding of 12-24 hours is required.
