Product Description:
This product is a steroid that reduces inflammation.Indications for Use: Depo-Medrol has been found to be useful in reducing pain and lameness due to arthritis and inflammation of muscle, bone, tendon, and joint.
Dosage and Administration: Give 200 mg, IM, for an adult horse. Repeat as needed. For maintenance therapy in chronic cases, initial doses should be reduced gradually until the smallest effective dose is established. When treatment is to be discontinued after a long period of use, the dose should be reduced gradually. (See precautions and side effects).
Intrasynovial injection (directly in the joint) is recommended in some cases. After each injection, the average relief from symptoms is 3 to 4 weeks. The intrasynovial injections should be reserved for the highly skilled professional.
Packaging: This product is available in 20 mg/mL and 40 mg/mL strength, in 5, 10, and 20 mL bottles.
Precautions and Side Effects: Because of possible abortions, do not administer to pregnant animals. Animals receiving treatment should be watched for signs of infection, and treated with appropriate therapy if required. As with other steroids, prolonged use is discouraged due to significant side effects.
Storage and Shelf Life: Store at a controlled room temperature of 68-77°F.
