Amoxicillin Trihydrate
(Amoxi-inject®)


Product Description: This is an antibiotic effective against gram negative and gram positive bacteria like Pasteurella, Haemophilus, and Streptococcus spp.

Indications for Use: This product is to be used as a treatment for pneumonia (shipping fever), foot rot, and other general bacterial infections.

Dosage and Administration: Give 1-2 mL per 100 lbs., administered IM or SQ once a day. This dose is based on the 250 mg/mL concentration.

Duration of Treatment: Treatment should continue for at least 2-3 days beyond the last signs of disease. Some studies indicate that many bacteria are resistant to this drug and that a culture and sensitivity is recommended before using this product.

Precautions and Side Effects: Allergic reactions are a possibility. If an animal has had a reaction to a penicillin type product in the past, DO NOT administer amoxicillin or any other penicillin.

Storage and Shelf Life: Amoxi-inject comes as a dry powder which needs to be reconstituted with sterile water. After reconstitution, the product remains viable for 3 months at room temperature or 6 months in the refrigerator.

Milk Withholding: 96 hours with the Amoxi-inject product.

Meat Withholding: 25 days
